Vung Tau overview

What started out as an ‘R&R’ spot for American and Australian soldiers during has become one of the hottest tourist spots in southern Vietnam. Vung Tau is only about a two hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, which makes it ideal for short trips. Even though foreign tourism is increasing, there are still chances to get to some of the more remote beaches if you are interested in getting some sun without looking at a fat white guy in a skimpy bathing suit. The government has done everything in its power to promote tourism in the area, which is now home to several upscale resorts, as well as a theme park which will soon house an 88 story tower that will be the highest building in Vietnam. Because of its proximity to Ho Chi Minh City, as well as its beauty, the area is likely to continue to develop.
