Ninh Binh overview

Most people head to Ninh Binh specifically for the nearby scenery of Tam Coc. The town of Ninh Binh itself is a fair way from Hanoi, beyond Nam Dinh, and has little to offer apart from being a base for the stunning scenery nearby. Most tend to rent a motorbike, or get on a tour, and buzz down towards Tam Coc, from where boat rides meander along a river through a striking setting of huge karsts and paddies. You can also cycle, or walk, up to a temple near to Tam Co which affords incredible views. Buses take about three hours from Hanoi and Ninh Binh is also on the Reunification Express line.
