Cat Ba Island overview

Cat Ba Island is a tourist haven and the main base for forays into the Halong Bay region proper. It is a part of beautiful Halong Bay itself and is its largest island, most of which is given over to a national park. Cat Ba Island has an array of digs at the waterfront of the main town, which is unfortunately somewhat of an eyesore, but you can easily rent a bike or motorbike and zip around to seemingly-untouched regions at a whim. Cat Ba Island also has some nightlife and there are oodles of tour operators offering trips out to Halong’s nether regions. It is straightforward to get to Cat Ba Island as a series of bridges link it with the mainland so that minibuses can come in from Haiphong and Hanoi.
