Can Tho overview

Can Tho is one of the main watery towns in the Mekong Delta to the west of Ho Chi Minh City. It is a sizeable city of a million-plus, making it the biggest centre within the Delta, and is wholly charming and friendly. Life is pretty laid-back in Can Tho and there is nothing like cruising on the river and amid the network of canals either by tour boat, or row boat under your own steam. In fact, getting about Can Tho is mostly by boat, sort of like a Venice of the East, and there is also a glut of floating markets. On dry land the Munirangsyaram Khmer pagoda is a must-see. You can get in via Tra Noc Airport, although most people boat or bus it down from Ho Chi Minh City.
